George McMurdy

Over the years of home project woodworking, I studied Woodturning and began my passion to turn ten years ago. Starting with functional pieces, bowls and platters, I have gradually transformed to designing and turning artistic work.

I enjoy learning of the many forms of turning, equipment used and the array of tooling that I have collected. Currently I’m using many different species of wood, exotics and local selections. Examples of my work at Carlton include Multi Axis Turning, Laminated Woods, Hollowing Techniques, and various finishes.

I am an AAW ( Assoc. Woodturners), Wilmington NC, Instructor of Beginner Classes, and presenter of my work at club meetings. Additionally, I teach a private class for a new turning student.
