Leigh  B. Williams

Leigh B. Williams has always been drawn to color, form, shape, and all things visual.  Encouraged by her mother, who has a degree in Textile Engineering, Leigh was exposed to a wide variety of art forms from an early age.  Later, as a fine arts major at the College of William and Mary, Leigh focused on oil painting. This classical training provided a solid framework from which to explore other media and techniques. This exploration led to her working with the relatively new medium of alcohol ink. The fluidity of the inks coupled with the vibrancy of the colors allowed Leigh to capture and create images that exude the essence of her creative spirit.

Using techniques she gained from her alcohol inks, Leigh was able to come full circle and incorporate some of these into her more classic acrylic paintings.  This other distinct line of her art has allowed Leigh to give voice to one of her core beliefs; that while we are often surrounding by seeming chaos, there is order and beauty in God’s creation that acts to draw us to a place of hope and renewal.  Her latest series, "Refreshing Water”, epitomizes this by using water as a metaphor for sustaining life and spreading joy and refreshment.
