Fred Mead

Nature reveals how all living things are interdependent. My art examines these connections from the smallest to the vastness of the universe.

Fred Mead was born in the Detroit suburbs of Southfield, Michigan and taught to paint in oils at an early age by his father, an artist/industrial designer. He earned a B.A. in Fine Arts with a double major in painting and sculpture and a minor in photography at Columbus College of Art and Design. After moving to North Carolina in 1980, Mead worked in commercial art while doing sculpture and painting in his studio. His interest shifted from commercial art to rehabilitation work, and he is a Rehabilitation Specialist while spending much time on his art.
